Adrenaline junkies should look elsewhere; Bike the Barns is “a tour, not a race,” says BikeADK’s Doug Haney, organizer of the fully supported event. Each October, 300 bicyclists cruise the Champlain Valley’s bucolic backroads at the height of fall color, with pit stops at small farms along the 25- to 35-mile route. Greeting participants who complete the route at “whatever pace makes them smile the most” is a celebration with local food, beer and music.

This year’s tour, on October 7, begins and ends at Ausable Brewery, in Keeseville. Proceeds benefit Adirondack North Country Association’s (ANCA) Local Food Systems Program.
