Comics and Graphic Novel Classes for Kids and Teens

On Saturday, May 21, ACW will host two in-person workshops for youth to learn the basics of visual storytelling through the form of comics and graphic novels. No experience necessary, and admission costs just $10. Register in advance. Draw a Story: Comics, Characters, and Conflicts 11AM - 1PM | Ages 8 -12

Learn to tell a story featuring your unique character! In this 2-hour workshop, students will design characters, develop their backstories, and sketch out 4-page scenes where they can see their creations in action! No experience necessary; beginners welcome. Led by illustrator, teacher and graduate of the Center for Cartoon Studies, Allison Bannister.

Graphic Novels: Planning Your Story

2 - 4 PM | Ages 13 - 17

Curious about where to start with your graphic novel? In this 2-hour workshop, students will learn how to break down the process into manageable steps, including sketching out exciting plots, memorable settings, and unique characters. No experience necessary; beginners welcome. Led by Allison Bannister.
