Amy Godine Book Release Event

1 p.m. reading of Amy Godine's latest work, The Black Woods, and informal panel discussion with two co-founders of the Adirondack Diversity Initiative, Paul Hai, Associate Director of the SUNY ESF Newcomb Campus, and Martha Swan, Executive Director of John Brown Lives! followed by an open conversation with the audience. Independent scholar Amy Godine has been writing and speaking about ethnic, migratory, and Black Adirondack history for more than three decades. The Black Woods chronicles the history of Black pioneers in New York's northern wilderness and recovers a robust history of those who carved from the wilderness a future for their families and their civic rights. Books will be available for purchase.
