War Cannon Spirits: A New Adirondack Eatery & Tasting Room

by Adirondack Life | October 2023, Travel

The abandoned Agway in Crown Point, originally an early-19th-century mill, has been dusted off and beautifully restored as War Cannon Spirits, a coffeehouse/bar, restaurant, event space and tasting room for the operation’s farm-to-glass whiskey. It took owner Paul Besignano—a New York City/New Jersey native with longtime ties to the Adirondack region—about seven years to bring the 200-year-old post-and-beam building back to life, with an eye toward promoting local farms and small-scale products. Its name is a nod to the area’s rich military history: the place is stationed less than six miles from the forts at Crown Point and about a dozen miles from Fort Ticonderoga. War Cannon’s menu features favorites such as smoked wings, nachos, mac & cheese, and flatbread pizzas topped with smoked meats and Kansas City, Carolina or honey-whiskey barbecue sauce. The bar spotlights a rotating stock of craft beers as well as vehicles for its signature whiskey, such as the Strawberry Whiskey Smash and Cannon Ball Old-Fashioned.

War Cannon Spirits (518-597-4040, warcannonspirits.com) is at 2849 Route 9N, in Crown Point.
