Shoot to Thrill
Winners of Adirondack Life’s annual photography contest
This year’s batch of contest entrants wowed us with
composition and technique, but also with one of the most eclectic collections
of Adirondack geography—photographs that captured not just the usual
along-the-road hot spots, but also backwoods critters and bushwhacking-only
vistas.
Zack Clothier, of Athol, shot his grand-prize winning scene
at daybreak from Little Recluse Island, just a spit of land within Lake George.
Our judges were moved by the photograph’s dramatic perspective, its subtle
color palette and its serene-Adirondack-morning-invoking vibe.
First- through third-place honorees will receive a
commemorative bowl made by Jay-based potter Sue Young. The grand-prize winner
earns this trophy plus free admission to the signature fall workshop sponsored
by the Adirondack Photography Institute (www.adkpi.org),
based in Inlet.
