Dr. Daniel Way presents Making the Rounds: More Scenes and Stories from an
Adirondack Medical Practice, images and reflections from his 30 years of service,
at Glens Falls’s Crandall Library, September 1–30.
Adirondack art and artists are as varied as the land that inspires them. Some creative types capture the hardscrabble realities of the park, others offer beautiful backcountry fantasies. The best turn the overlooked—natural materials, local characters, even biological building blocks—into the unforgettable.

Abanakee Studios, in Indian Lake, has been showcasing unforgettable paintings, photographs and furniture for a decade. Enjoy a sampling at its Tenth Anniversary Show through September 7. For details call (518) 648-5013 or see http://www.abanakeestudios.com.

Or explore the microscopic world at Raising the Fleet, an art/science collaboration between the Lake George Arts Project and shipwreck specialists from Bateaux Below, Inc. Paintings, drawings and live video feeds will line the Courthouse Gallery (518-668-2616, http://www.lakegeorgearts.org), in Lake George, until September 10.

Through September 19 catch Color and Light, paintings and drawings by Robert Carsten and Gil Perry, at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts (518- 523-2512, www.lakeplacidarts.org).

The Adirondack History Center Museum, in Elizabethtown, presents Inside the Landscape, paintings and sculptures by Edward Cornell (see Profile, February 2007), through October 31. Call (518) 873-6466 for information.

Check out the paintings, drawings and etchings of Adirondack art legend Harold Weston at Atea Ring Gallery (518-962-8620), in Westport, from September 5 to 16.

And glimpse the creative process from September 25 to 27 during Saranac Lake's Artist at Work Studio Tour. Pick up maps at the Adirondack Artists' Guild (518-891-2615), 52 Main Street, starting at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday, noon on Sunday.
