Adirondack waters are an angler’s dream, from rock-studded streams tumbling by the roadside to clear, deep ponds dotting the backcountry. Here, teeming honey-holes aren’t just the stuff of legends. Trout, landlocked salmon, bass, perch, muskie, walleye: an embarrassment of riches awaits along our banks. The trick is finding hot spots—often jealously guarded secrets, even between close friends. But tramping off-trail, following a rumor of a pool of brookies so eager they’ll jump right into your creel, is half the fun.
